How did you hear about DB?: Stumbled on site
I just spoke with "trailmaster" Steve, who along with the rest of the BMA trail ride committee has been very busy organizing the event for next weekend (Sept 12-13th). There is some great information in the latest September newsletter archived at the BMA website.
http://www.bytown-motorcycle-assoc.ca/news_letters/September%202009.pdf
Most of the trail preparations and planning items are now complete for the event. A few additional points he wanted to add:

- The trails are in EXCELLENT condition thanks to the recent good weather.
- There is approximately 100-200 km of trail of all types to chose from on Saturday (leaving from Calabogie Highlands Gold Club, Barryvale) depending on the options you choose... novice (orange) 85km, intermediate (pink) 185km, expert (white) 210km.
- Lunch is included both days.
- There is rough camping available at HGC. The Greater Madawaska Tourism website maintains a list of accomodations (as noted on the flyer here: http://www.somuchmore.ca/ and pre-arranging accomodations are highly advised.
- Sunday's route will leave from the pit (south off of highway 508) to the west of the ski hill. Entrance will be signed.
- Saturday night's post dinner festivities include guest speaker Warren Thaxter.
- The Ralley Connex group will be running the dualsport event in conjunction with the main ride.
- - Sign-in starts 6 PM Friday night. As always, bikes must be quiet, licensed, insured and have adequate (80 + km) fuel range.
- Specific ride details....signage, trail ratings, fuel, lunch, distances, etc., will be covered at the 9 AM riders meeting Saturday morning.

The flyer and contact details for the event are here: http://bytown-motorcycle-assoc.ca/docs/ ... _flyer.pdf

Regards, Doug

I love riding in Calabogie. Started going there on the Canada Day weekends for Suzican. (think Jeep jamboree for Suzuki trucks) Two years running now I have brought the bikes and the crew out there.

Not sure what trails they run at the Boogie but if you want a real challenge, do the Crag lake trail as well as the Quinn. I want video of someone going up Pinion Pass!

We usually camp out just past the dam and run the poleline down to HWY 41. Do some tarmac through Cloyne and then hook up with one of the other polelines that runs right back to Calabogie. Man I could be there a whole week and ride different trails every day! I wish I could go. :-|

Generally the area south of Calabogie/Barryvale and north of Ompah Ont is run.
A few old standards generally appear each year (such as the famed and afrorementioned Quinns) and some new stuff gets added. Sunday the last year or so has been run west of Calabogie (past the ski hill) in the scenic high elevation Waban Mt./Eagle's nest area. Great photo ops.
Here's Saturday last year. Forecast looks great...Expect a good year this year too.
